What patches are you talking about. I am looking through the forum regarding the BSI upgrade and I keep hearing about patches. We are on ESP7, MSP6- do you think we still need to load patches.

Out IT just loaded BSI 8 and I am going to start testing.

The important patches (for 8.0.3.7) seem to be CTP 51432, and environment patch E_AIX_08000307P19898.zip

This has been a helpful discussion. Can I get an update from those that have successfully completed the task.

Are all three of these really necessary for the bsi upgrade to 8??
        1) environment to esp7
        2) ios/logan to esp7
        3) portal to 3.0.7

We have succesfully completed it. We did run into a few issues after go live but overall it has gone fairly smoothly.

The three things we ran into during/after go live are
          1. In laconfig "Windows non-interactive desktop heap.." we had the system crashing until we moved it from 512 to 1024. It looks like are prod environment opens a lot more connections so while the lower setting worked in dev we couldn't even bring production up with it set like this. We encountered this fairly late into the install on the day of go live for ESP7.
          2. Also in laconfig we had to increase some setting in the tuning tab(per lawson support). May be specific to our site and load.
          2. We have had a issue with rw100 not dumping csv files out like it should. We have worked around it for now but will apply a patch this Wednesday to get it fixed. Support seemed suprised that we hadn't installed "all" the patches. The patch for this problem however came out on Oct 17th and we went live on Oct 20th. I wasn't going to install a patch three days before go live in a major upgrade.
          3. You may need to to increase memory in laserv.cfg on this line. There is documentation on support.lawson.com on this.

          larmi "%law_java_home%\bin\java -Xms64m -Xmx512m -Djava.rmi.logCalls=true -cp LARMICP com.lawson.lawrmiserver.PoolServer"

          4. We also had a wonderful issue at our site where are network/server people installed a virus firewall the occasionally would cause network connectivity issues just a few days after go live just to make trouble shooting that much more exciting.

Thanks for an in-depth recap. Can you tell me the CTP # of the patch that came out on the 17th that you needed?

            Are you on Windows?

            Thanks again!

This is the one that came out on Oct 17th and it may be enough to fix the issue.
              PT #: 171425 (IOSRE_NT_08000307P19988)
              PT #: 171425(IOSRS_NT_08000307P19981)

These actually came out on the 25th and we were told we should apply this as well.
              PT #: 171644 (IOSRE_NT_08000307P20112.zip)
              PT #: 162463 (IOSRE_NT_08000307P12622.zip)

We also have to upgrade the Portal & the IOS/Logan - someone mentioned a portal patch?? We are going from portal 3.1.6 to 3.1.7. Can someone advise of the portal patch that they felt was necessary for the bsi 8 upgrade.

Jay - thanks for all of the great info.

Can you share your rw100 workaround as we'd like to kick this all off w/o the extra patch for the rw100 if at all possible.

                  Thanks!

RW100 still runs just fine it is only when you click on the link to create the CSV that it fails. You can just go into LID and get the CSV that way or probably just cut and past and dump into excell off of portal. The users have just portal so I know you can get the data out without using LID. Just a little bit clumsy.
