    Hi Everyone,

We are migrating to 10 and want to know if Lawson offers email approval functionality. For example, we want an approver to receive an email notification that something needs to be approved. Rather than the user click a link to log into Lawson to approve, we want the user to click on an approve button in the email that is then stored in Lawson with a time date stamp and the name of the approver for the transaction.

Is this existing functionality? And if so, how does a client go about configuring this?

If this is not existing functionality, how are other clients accomplishing this for their users?

    Thanks,

    Lena

1 - You can send emails out of ESS/MSS...but they're just basic emails.
2 - For a PA to require approvals (since we're talking HR), the PA50 needs to be set to "use workflow" (IPA), otherwise it would be immediate approval.
3 - IPA/PFI is typically what is used for routing approvals and sending emails. You would need to add the trigger code in ESS/MSS to kick off a flow, but that's not difficult
4 - You can have email approvals out of IPA, but the user still has to login to Lawson for the approval to be recorded. Email approvals are setup within the User Action node, in the Notify Message window.

I have done this for some clients. What I've done is create a custom service and flow that is used instead of the Lawson-delivered functionality. It creates workunits for each timecard needing approval and routes to the approver's inbasket. This didn't require change to the ESS/MSS code itself. If you are using IPA, you can use the email approval functionality to include approve/reject links within emails so that approvers can operate on the workunits from the email without accessing inbasket (but requiring authentication).
Thanks for using the LawsonGuru.com forums!

Thank you for your response. I am going to share with my internal contact and see if this is the answer he was looking for.
