The answer is much too long to post. You should call me, we've been doning
this for years, and with different Banks. The process will vary depending
on the Bank.

Mr. O'Toole

Have you received any response on this?  We are using 9.01 and are facing the same question you are asking about.  We are looking at ultimately customizing the software to allow for this since, as you are finding, that in version 9.01 the feature of changing their contribution amounts is still not available.

Just curious if you had any response regarding this.  Please let me know.
Thank you,

Jonathan

Our HSA is running... Started 1/1/12. The first deduction was taken last friday and Tuesday will be the first deposit of the employee deductions into their bank accounts.

Bank is taking just the associate's SSN and an amount and thier program converts to the Bank Account number.
Mid-year contribution changes are being done with an HTML form that emails the benefits team.
New sign-ups get emailed from Processflow (sends email and files to associate, benefits team and the bank)

I am sure we will adjust as we move forward with this. I found a way to use BN32.2 on a form to do an add but I have not built the complete process so I would still need to have the limits and annual amounts adjusted by a benefits person.

Does your company contribute to a HSA and/or FSA if employees elect HDHP or CDHP?  Effective 7/1/12 we enrolled a new CDHP plan.  Employees are eligible to open and contribute to an HSA or FSA account.  The company will also contribute to their account.

Has anyone set up both a HSA or FSA with ER and EE contributions.  This set up would need to map to the CDHP enrollment.  We have four tiers (individual, employee + sp, employee + child(ren), or family).

HSA ER contribution amounts are pro-rated
FSA ER contribution amounts are available immediately.

Also, is there a bank account layout to feed HSA contributions (EE + ER) from Lawson to the bank.

Also, is there a payroll file feed FSA contribution (EE + ER) from Lawson to the vendor.

Thanks!

We are adding the HDHP / HSA plan for 2013.  I like your idea of setting the HSA up as a deduction rather than a Benefit.  I'm assuming you are talking about the employee deduction.  Do you also have an employer contribution?  If so, and if that is a deduction, too - what Tax Status did you use on PR05 Tax tab?  We are in all states so I'm not sure how we will handle the fact that most states are pre-tax but the employer contribution is taxable in CA, ME & NJ.  Any further info you have would be helpful.  Thanks!

Anyone have any recent information on this? I'm looking to set up a HSA paried with a HDHP for the first time effective 1/1/14 and am trying to determine if I should set up the HSA as a RS or DC plan or just as a deduction (EE + ER). We will be contributing to the HSA (first half in January and the second in July). If anyone could be of guidance, I would most appreciative!

We did this last year and set up the employee HSA Contribution as an RS plan.  The employer contribution is set up as a deduction only since we applied the entire employer contribution at the beginning of the year.  I recently saw a new knowledge base article 1359384 regarding HSA Remuneration and Tax Status which may also be helpful.  Good luck!

We are setting up an HDHP with an HSA for our new plan year starting 4/1/14.  In reading through everything, I am thinking we should set up the HSA with 2 plans (3 if you count the waive plan) under RS, one for single and one for family since they have different limits.  I am also thinking that we use an employee group on the contribution for the "catch-up" piece and still only keep the 2 groups.  We have a programmer building custom logic in our ESS system to only show plans in which they are eligible for. (i.e. can only elect HSA if elect HDHP).  Has anyone done this type of set-up before?  If so, how did it work and was it successful.  If not, any ideas for me?

I see these responses are older. We are just going to be setting up an HSA this year.

Any advice you can share? Changes? Improvements? I am especially interested in company contributions.

We are testing and using the tax types 21 and 20 on the deduction code. The system stopped the contribution appropriately at 6650. I then added it to the OV50 overrides in BSI that we have for our DC plans and instead of stopping it at 7650, it is stopping it at 7750 instead of 7650.

has anyone else experienced this.

How did you fix it?

I had loaded 7750 at first.  Then changed it.   It just took our system a verrrrrry loooong time to resync.

It is working now.

Thank you for the response.

Okay. I am going crazy. I had it working for a MD resident with the exception of SS, Medicare taxes. I tried to add those and now, it does not work at all again.

Also, does anyone know how long it takes for BSI to sync up with Lawson after changes are made?

Any thoughts on setting up a HSA as either a DC or RS plan type?

I was first thinking it didn't matter but then last night I thought that an RS plan has an end date attached to it when it is added and if a person does not go through open enrollment the following year, the HSA deduction will automatically end even though it should not.

Thoughts?

Advice?
