9.0 application upgrade question

Started By  Roger French
When you upgrade to 9.0 applications, do you already have to have the 9.0 applications separately installed Or do the 8.1 to 9.0 Upgrade programs do that for you Trying to clarify... the 8.1 to 9.0 Upgrade manuals say that you need to have the 9.0 applications already installed prior to doing the upgrade, but I'm gathering that the upgrade process also upgrades the 8.1 programs to 9.0. If that's so, why would you also need the 9.0 applications already installed TIA, -R

Any Upgrade Issues Encountered

Started By  Didi
My company will be upgrading from version 7 to 9, which is a significant upgrade, and there is some concern about unanticipated and/or serious issues to be encountered during and after the upgrade. The concerns are mainly from a user standpoint. We are curious as to what other users have experienced - good or bad - after upgrading. We are interested in finding out how others have dealt with these issues.

8.0.3 to 9.0.0.x data migration dbreorg -G

Started By  BrianP
We are Unix / Oracle 10g.  During the copy processes we are getting ORA-01400 (Null / Not Null) error and the process defaults to dbcopy.  The job ends up in the waiting queue as needs recovery.  Lawson suggests doing dbreorg -g then recover the job.  This process seems to work, but I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this issue.  It appears when the process defaults to dbcopy the insert to the target db is successfull and the offending field is a space (not null).

802 changes

Started By  tomsimpson
Hi We are currently in lawson apllication 8.0.2 MSP 2. we would like to install 8.0.3 MSP 12.   for installing Lawson 8.0.3 MSP 12, we guess 8.0.2 msp 8 is required. Can we proceed directly applying cahnges from 8.0.3 msp12 instead of  doing changes to 8.0.2 msp8 and then 8.0.3 Msp8 or a ) 8.0.2 MSP2  -> 8.0.2 MSP 8 and then 8.0.3 MSP12 b) 8.0.2 MSP2 -> 8.0.3 MSP 12 Which option is correct is option a and b would give same result

Training for LSF upgrade and/or Apps 9 upgrade

Started By  Deleted User
What types of learning curve will be experienced with: upgrade from enviro 8.0.3.7 (windows) to LSF 9 upgrade from apps 8.1 (windows) to apps 9 (HR/PR, GL/AP, EMSS, Process Flow). We are considering using the learning library courses and the lawson provided documentation only versus paying for a trainer to come in. Is this feasible Are there a LOT of changes for the LSF9 Are there a LOT of changes to the apps9 Thanks

8.1 upgrade to 9.0 - SQL Server case sensitive?

Started By  Deleted User
We are in the process of the upgrade (with a consultant). I just found out that SQL Server 2005 was installed with the COLLATE set so that it's case sensitive now. Is that a Lawson requirement It sure is complicating matters on stored procs, functions, etc.

Lawson Batch Jobs from 8.0.3 to 9.0

Started By  Michelle Sundermann
We are in the process of upgrading our applications from 8.0.3 to 9.0.  With all of the database changes we have learned that all of our current batch jobs will not be brought over.  We were planning on just reentering them manually but since you can't have two jobs on the same environment named the same we can't recreate them exactly.  Does anyone know if there is perhaps a way to export the batch jobs out of 8.0.3 and import them to 9.0 (at least the jobs where there isn't a new field as we un...

Upgrade and reloading everyones security.

Started By  Deleted User
I was looking at using LoadUsers.exe to load new data access security role to everyone as part of a Apps 9 upgrade.  However I believe it over-writes everything, which means I would need to dump all the data first and then do a reload with the new security.  Is there an easier way to do this

Upgrade from 9.0.0.3 to 9.0.0.5 on iSeries

Started By  Ronald
Has anyone had as much trouble installing/testing with Lawson 9.0.05 as we have  We are in the 9th month of trying to upgrade to 9.0.0.5 and each time there is an application broken and needing a patch or patches added that break something else. Any suggestions would be welcome. Note:  We are using LPS.

8.0.3 to 9.0.1 Upgrade DB change

Started By  Eddie Smith
We are in the initial phase of upgrading our current 8.0.3 MSP11 app to 9.0.1 app and would also like to switch our database platform from Oracle to SQL server. We have upgraded to LSF9 about a year ago. Has anyone done an app plus a DB change at the same time If so what what pitfalls did you encounter. BTW we are running Lawson on Windows NT.

Handling of maintenance on 8.0.2 / 8.0.3 apps

Started By  Freddy Garcia
We are looking at upgrading our apps/env from 8.1/ lsf 9.0.0 to 9.0.1/lsf 9.0.1 as Lawson is about to decom apps. 8.1.  My question - any of you on 8.0.3 or 8.0.2 apps (which should be decommission) and how are you handling maintenance  In other words, are any of you on extended maintenance for a decom Lawson product  We use the financial and supply chain modules.  Appreciate your input.  Freddy

PF and BCI Upgrade 8.0.3.11 to 9.0.0MSP5 on LSF9

Started By  Deleted User
Hi, Anyone have any sucess stories on how you migrated your user data in the PF (logan WF tables) to version 9.0  We are considering using import db to load the user set up information; example WF tables such as WFUSERCAT and WFUSRPROFL.  When you did your Process Flow data migration, did you bring over transactional history Any input will be most appreciated! joanna.bledsoejhsmh.org
