I couldn't find this specific question in any of the forums:

Where would I find and change the default advanced search option, from the current "Find" to "Filter"?

I've gone through all of the .htm and .js files in portal\drill\, and was able to rotate where they were on the screen, but the Find stays as the default.

Can someone guide me to what I'm overlooking?

    Thanks,

    Brian

You want to default "filter" as the default search option right?

In portal, go to "user option" > "drill" tab > under "other options"/"search option" > change it to "filter"

then it will default to filter whenever you search.

Thanks, this would make it WAY easier. But...On the drill tab, I do not see "other options"
This is version 9, if that helps.

Do you have all the portal patches in? I am running 9.0.1 portal and I can switch between FIND or FILTER under user option whenever I want.

Thanks. I'm still on 9.0.0.5. I have a meeting this afternoon to discuss moving to the latest 9.0.0.x service pack. Not sure if that will advance me far enough to solve this, but I'm hoping so.

This was brought up to me again today (kind of forgot about this issue).
I'm on the newest version of 9.0.0.x, and I still don't have an option under User Options to set the default. Is there any place to make a code change to change the default search from Find to Filter?

I was quite disappointed with Lawson's search within portal and LID. After upgrading to 9, I found that we actually have more clicks to do an employee lookup. When I brought this up with Lawson I got a response that no one else has issue with the lookup.

Say you are on HR11: here are the steps to open an employee:

                  1. click company and fill in
                  2. click the employee drop down
                  3. click the search button
                  4. click in the field because the curser does not default there
                  5. fill in a name and either type the complete name or use a wildcard
                  6. click find (enter does not work so you need to go to the mouse again)
                  7. find the associate in the list and click him/her
                  8. click inquire

I asked that they assume that if I click the drop down on the employee field I probably want to search the thousands of records and I will not be scrolling through a list. *** Or better yet have the employee field accept names being typed. If I type a name in the employee field and click something it automatically brings of a list of employees with that in thier name field. It did not sound like Lawson felt this was an issue for users but I think it is because most of us complain about something like this as an annoyance but then when we look at our projects this is not going to be as high on our list as something else that does not work at all.

Also, I was told that if I want searching I should "buy" smart office. It is like saying buy this car but it comes with metal windshields - for an additional fee we can put glass windshields in.
