Trying to determine if there is any value proposition in the horizontal scaling? Looking at this probably 80% based on performance and 20% on HA. Has anyone done this - and what was your performance increase from it? And I know the performance valuation has to consider the ROI of the additional hardware/cobol licensing, etc... so just trying to ball park the performance increase to know how much value that may generate here....

We do not do full-on "horizontal scaling", but we simply do a 3-member cluster within WebSphere instead. This serves a similar purpose, balancing the Infor Enterprise Application traffic/load within WebSphere across the three member cluster instead of a single instance. The cost to do this was minimal because it took our installer only a handful of hours to accomplish. However, although not documented to a specific ROI like you mentioned (because there is no additional hardware/licensing cost involved in this approach), the return was noticeable nearly immediately. We had numerous performance issues back when we were still on Lawson 9.0.0.x. Modifying out WebSphere configuration to incorporate this clustering was done back then and it definitely made a difference. Therefore, with each upgrade since, we have chosen to maintaing this configuration approach in WebSphere.
