Does anyone know if you are able to archive Lawson data from a specific date?  I see the purge programs that are in Lawson, but we want to archive data off and create a separate product line as "read only".

    Thanks,

    Joe

Never done it  - but it sounds like an interesting idea.    We have looked at archiving in the past.   However, when we went to LSF9 our internal Lawson Tech thought ahead and had the servers built with more than we needed...   Our system is so quick that I don't really think about archiving anymore.

Finished a round of purging last year (June/July); when we started getting ready for 2010 purge cycle, Legal indicated to stop until OIG (Office of Inspector General) responds to our specific request for guidelines (2-3 months already).

Several things to keep in mind when 'purging' vs archiving. A purge is just that - deletion of records; archiving in the manner that Joe wants to do is not a strong suit in Lawson. From what we've discovered is that Revere Software has one of the only solutions on the market that will actually archive the data away from Lawson into a separate reporting area.

Several caveats: Any thing you keep is 'discoverable' in litigation - which is more true for HR than one might think; also, IRS guidelines on Assets aquisition/disposition and Corporate reporting also enter into the mix.

        Good Luck!
