As a newly appointed Systems Administrator for an AIX 6.1 server run Lawson S3 who has no previous experience of Lawson products, I'm currently in the position of being asked to download and istall the latest fixes. Given that Lawson S3 consists of various components, environment/core; portal; apps; preocess flow; business component integrator; etc, all of which I am still trying to get to grips with, how can I determine whats currently installed and therefore what fixes I need to download.

I'd appreciate any help anyone can give me, and appologise for being a complete newbie.

You dont install fixes to the apps other than when there is an issue to correct or if you want to go to the next MSP to stay supported. Environment and Portal should be patched together, the other components as needed.

To determine your environment version 'univver -v' at a command prompt
Use LID and type dbdef which pulls up a form
Select your productline name and hit enter, your version for the selected productline including MSP will be displayed.
To see which patches you have applied, peruse the lawappinstall.log located in $LAWDIR//Admin directory

I know you will need more info for other products but, I'd start with whats above as a primer.
