The server team will be adding CPU’s and will need to shut down the machine. Would that need to be done off hours? Would I need to be concerned about stopping and restarting services? Any advise or suggestions on what to expect or be concerned about as far as HH devices? If done off hours, what would I need to do to make sure everything is back up and running?

I'm going to assume here that Materials busiest time of the day is first thing in the morning. If that is not correct, off hours is probably the best option.

My suggestion is to work with you Materials folks to finish up early one day, shut it down, make your changes, bring it back up, and get Materials to test it. I've done that in the past with Materials, and it actually seems to be a better solution than off hours for both IT and Materials. Having said that, if Materials is using the HH 24/7 you could do it off hours. The one scenario you really, really don't want is to do the work off hours, assume that everything will be OK, Materials gets in really early (at least in most places), and they have a problem while all your support is in transition from home to office. As for services, on a Windows box it really should not be a problem. On a Unix box you should shut down WebSphere first.

Eric, thank you so much for quick response and your advice is greatly appreciated. I will coordinate with materials as suggested.
