Is it possible to use Crystal Enterprise instead of embeded Crystal RAS with LBI

Crystal Enterprise Embedded Edition is no longer listed in the LBI version 10 Install Guide. That means you probably will not get support from Infor.

This does not answer your question, but I don't see why you couldn't setup your dashboards to link to your external Crystal Enterprise. Of course you would loose some of the benefits of having Crystal integrated with LBI though.

Based on the 10.0.4 install guide, there is a section on configuring to use Crystal RAS installed on a different server than LBI.
You do have to copy a folder (Crystal RAS java library) from the RAS server to the LBI server, and that is the path you enter as part of the LBI install.
Hopefully that answers your question...

After digging further into the documentation and comparing the LIB files for the embedded RAS version and the Enterprise version we decided not to attempt to use the enterprise version. There are a number of library files with names starting with CR... in the embedded version that are not in the enterprise version and I didn't want to take a chance on screwing up the enterprise version by copying the files from the embedded version into the enterprise version.

We do have the embedded version of crystal installed on a different server than reporting services is installed on with no problem. It just doesn't look feasible to use the enterprise version in place of the embedded version.

An old post, but in a related issue, we are migrating from LBI 9.0.4.2 to SAP Edge, since they offer concurrent licensing. They have a migration tool which can connect to the Business Objects \ CRS RAS service and pull the reports over to the new Business Objects, in this case 4.1 (LBI 9
.0.4 uses BO 3.1). In SAP, BO 3.1 to 4.1 is fine, we are just trying to find if anyone has done this (is there anything in LBI that would get in the way, etc.). Let me know, if not maybe Matthew Nye or someone will see this and can chime in.
