Since the end of february 2011 we are live with M3. We have build different Smart Notes for our users.

For instance we have one Smart Note that burst to different people and the same Smart Note we also used on the dashboard. The Smart Note on the dashboard contains all records and the bursting Smart Note contains only the records which belong to specifically to the field we burst on.

We used the Smart Note with a Infoset which we have scheduled. The settings of the scheduler are Update/Process. The effect of the settings is that the smart note is bursting.

But how we can update the dashboard. We have also build an Smart Note and have only the setting Update for the scheduler because the Smart Note is only on the dashboard. Must we used Update/Process-setting for scheduler to update also the dashboard or must we used the scheduler which you can find on tab 3 Delivery for the Smart Notification Wizard.

      Ellen,

Let me see if I can simplify your issue to make sure I understand correctly, you have two Notifications that use the same infoset. One delivers via email and one is on the dashboard. Youd like to update the dashboard note without kicking off the email delivered Notification, is that correct?

If so, what youre looking for is the Alerts link to the right of your InfoSet in the Working with InfoSets window. The Alerts URLs will allow you to process the data in a specific Notification rather than processing for all Notifications associated to an InfoSet.

      hth,
      Matt

        Matt,

It is the same Smart Notification with :
        1. Bursting an notification to the mail -> The bursting mail contains only the records which match the parameter setting (login)
        2. Displaying the notification on the dashboard -> The dashboard contains all records

At this moment I cannot show you an example because the infoset contains no records.

I want to know if I have also do the settings on tab 3 Delivery on Smart Notification for updating the Smart Nofication on the dashboard

Ok, so you are trying to use the same Notification for both dashboard AND email delivery?

I think this is officially the most popular SN question now

Unfortunately you cant do this. Check out this post for more info:

                Matthew,

I have read the post but the difference between my post and the post of George is that I want ALL records on the dashboard. Look at the attachement.

The only problem is that the dashboard is not updated.

You have to split this into two notifications - one to do the bursting/email delivery and one for the dashboard. The bursting setup of the notification "messes" with the notification that affects the dashboard.

The way I resolved this is that the on the dashboard and the one that needs to be bursted need to be 2 separte notifications like George pointed.

I also scheduled the notification on the dashboard to be processed/Updated and according to the schedule the smart notification on the dashboard will be updated. We have  one smart notification that is published to the dashboard and is updated daily according to its schedule. It works fine.
