Just created an enhancement request to make ED40 readable to other issue methods.

At Inforum they mentioned they were having difficulty coming up with a solution that would fit everyone and it occurred to me that we have already all figured out a way to map the PO header to an account for EDI.  If instead of TPID_O the POs issued to Paper/Fax/Email looked for PO_O records we would be fine.

At any rate, I'm going to see if I can bribe my IT to at least put it on the wish list for IPAs. :)

      Hey Kat,
We did almost exactly that about 9 months ago. We created a proxy ED10 (Trading Partner) record and then simply populated the ED40 (Substitution Table) as if we were setting up the vendor for EDI (although I think we may have only used the tpid_O_SHIPTO and tpid_O_DEPT values). I believe we also set up a proxy/generic Purchase From for the vendor, to use as a trigger/filter value for IPA. It seems to be working well, and should be fairly scalable (at least as scalable as any other EDI solution).
      Take care,

Hey Red - what triggers your IPA? We're issuing to Document Express so I'm having issues getting the IPA in before the file goes out.

So... if you are a parent, or know parents, one of the things you eventually come to terms with is that you raise your kid(s) to be the best that you hope for them, but, at some point, they are going to be the adults that they will be. I had this great idea, I handed it off to our Purchasing team to partner with our Technical team, and months later it was live. Yea! I was so proud of my little progeny.

Well, it turns out that the Technical team bagged the IPA part of the idea and went to a direct custom of the PO120 library (POPCRIPD). I realize that not everyone has the same level of technical support that I enjoy, so this may not be an option. If anyone is interested, please message me directly--I will check with the team about sharing the logic, or possibly setting up a call to discuss.

In spite of this, I do think there is a way to address this outside of the dreaded customization. For one thing, even if there is no direct IPA trigger in the PO120 process, the end result is a bunch of files deposited into a predefined folder. It seems like IPA could monitor that folder, search the body for the key elements, then perform a lookup, overwrite the account, and save the file. If Document Express is monitoring the output folder, the PO120 could drop the POs in an interim folder, then IPA could move them out of the interim folder to wherever DE requires. (This is probably ideal, for a couple of reason I can think of.)

          Sorry about the misdirection,

ooo - Doc Express is only looking in the print managers because we told it too. I can get the IPA to go there and put the file in the Doc Express folder. Just tell Doc Express to look where IPA puts it - not the print manager.

Yeah - I was putting together my Inforum presentation and a couple of things I would have sworn are IPAs are Design Studio and Job Scheduler. No worries!
