Looking to see if anyone knows of any downsides to having multiple items within the same preferred bin within IC12.  It has always been our standard to no allow this but we have some customers who are wanting to do this so they can prep labels for conversions.  I know that IC81 doesn't allow it but IC12 does.  Thank you for any insight.

I don't think it would cause any issues. If this is for an upcoming conversion then there wouldn't be any stock for the new item in that bin, correct? That's the risk when there's one bin associated with multiple items- picking the wrong item.

Thank you, there would be the potential for stock to exist in the same bin under both item yes and that is what I am trying to figure out.  They would bring in the new item and continue to use the old until it is gone.  Currently we either adjust out of the old and adjust that qty into the new using the same cost as the old and then the new item just reorders when needed.  Some items are allowed to run out then the new item is created at the same time the old is inactivated.

We just moved from Lawson and I discovered that what you're describing was SOP for one of our Centrals. They would physically put in a divider with something along the lines of "use old first" and put the new behind.

Good Morning, circling back to this topic.  Does anyone know of any potential issues that may arrise by having more than one item in a single bin and both having onhands?  Thank you.

Depending on how this gets pulled, both items will be visible to users - with SOH in both items, the bin is fine, but you end up being to allocate both items at the same time which makes picking require more critical thinking than it normally does.

There was an items in a bin report and IC145 will also show both.
