We are looking into a project using Bill units on certain items (ex. Mesh) where you use the SUOM as EA, but the patient is billed by the square CM.  Currently we are using an IC11 user field to accomplish this, but is there a way to incorporate it into the IC11 record, or another screen in Lawson that is used for Bill Units.  We do not want to issue these items at this UOM because it is smaller than the lowest UOM, but it is billed to the patient at this UOM.

Has anyone attempted this, and had success with this process?

Not without loading a new stock uom. The closest we had was the davinci robot - 10 patient use per EA. Stock UOM is PU and EA = 10 PU.

I would ask how Optime handles the mesh - but I'm a little afraid to.

Maybe I'm understanding wrong but we build out in the lowest, usable UOM. If we need to issue out in a higher UOM, we just change the default transaction UOM in IC12.

It's "grainular" - you do not count mesh by the square inch - but you do use it on the patient that way. Same with the robot supplies, we buy and count by the EA but they want to count that EA as 10 because that's how many patients they can use it on.

OpTime has a field for order ratio (SUP 320 on the BAL record) that stores the quantity per stock uom. Supposed to be used to calculate the supply cost per patient single use when the LUM stored in the MMIS is not by the EA. So if your mesh is 10 uses per EA it seems that OpTime could store 10 in SUP 320. You'd have to look at your interface to see how that field is currently mapped.

We've been told that Epic will either accept a supply list feed or allow you to create one. It won't allow them to edit something that came from Lawson - so we're still stuck finding a spot for it. Corporate Fiance considers Lawson's unit cost the source of truth, so when they go to bill, it's calling back to Lawson to very the conversion. Do not let your finance do this.

It basically means for me that if the UOM isn't a match in IC11 it doesn't let them bill.

Don't let finance make Lawson the source of truth for unit cost?
