Perpetual inventory to PAR

Both our Sterile Processing and Operating Room inventories are currently perpetual inventories. We struggle with the usual problems of returns to SPD, buttons not being pushed in the Omnicells in OR, etc.  Right now, the OR is stocked from either SPD or a vendor depending on an item and SPD is stocked by either our main storeroom or a vendor.

We are starting to investigate moving one or both of these inventories (SPD and/or OR) to PAR locations and I just wondered if anyone had any advice/thoughts as to points to consider?

Are there nuances to having Operating Rooms as par locations? Compelling arguments either way? Once Supply Chain has considered the matter, we need to bring evidence based facts to Treasury for a final decision so anything you can give me would be helpful.

    Thanks!

There is a reason they were set up as perpetual, more than likey for the asset value.
You can set them up as par locations, if they have the space to store the items.
If the items are coming back down to SPD then it will be difficult to know which ones you have already charged for and which you haven't.
I've seen par locations setup for the OR for emergency items but the surgical carts are built from SPD and the items need to be stocked there.
This is a struggle for everyone and if you are picking from the OR system pick lists, then you could modify how you charge for the items.
I've played with an idea of only charging for partial quantities (the quantity typically used) and comparing the returned quantity to the charged
quantity and issuing or crediting the difference. This may allow you to keep your SPD inventory quantities cleaner.
