I am trying to change the manufacturer code on 47 items in IC11 from KHC to COVD.

The COVD code is in IC14. It has a description, but no division value.

I'm using an addin for IC11, but getting the following error:
    Invalid manufacturer code/division

I don't understand why I'm getting this error when COVD exists in the IC14.

    Any ideas??

You need to map a column to the DIVISION field. This column should be blank. If you do not do this, then the existing DIVISION value will not be removed and thus, you will get the error that the mfgr code/division is invalid.

It means that for those manufacturers someone at some point created a sub division. Not a practive I am a fan of BTW.
You will need to add an additional column and field, go to IC14, look up those Manufacturers and get the division to add to your spreadsheet... or you can try adding a "new manuf" in IC14 with the same name minus the division.
Hope this helps, I know you say you see no div value. That seems odd.

Map should be - Item Group, Item, Manuf-Code (COVD), Manuf-Div (Blank Column). Even if there is no division value, it's a 4 character space when you query the table. Upload a blank column and it should figure it out.

Mapping to Manuf_Division and clearing the values worked, but not when I try to delete the unwanted manufacturer code in IC14, I'm getting a message saying "Cannot delete with an Active Item".

I ran a query on all active items in ITEMMAST with the code I want to delete (the same one I changed from KHC to COVD) and there are no items returned.

You will also need to query ITEMLOC, POVENITEM, POVAGRMTLN.  Once it is not in these areas you can delete the Manufacturer Code/Division.

                Thanks SO much Stephanie!!
What a tedious task, but I finally got it cleaned up and deleted from IC14.

                Thanks to everyone else too!!

Sorry to bring this 5 year old conversation thread back - but I'm trying to locate the tables named above: POVENITEM (is it supposed to be POITEMVEN) and POVAGRMTLN. Cannot find them in the "expected" PO Productline/files?? Thank you!

They are POITEMVEN and POVAGRMTLN. What version are you on?

Thanks Jim.  We are using version 10.

Same here. We use Microsoft Sql 2012. Not sure if the names are different if you use a different Database software.

I would hope the names are not different! How complicated that'd be! I'll keep looking for it. At this time, I'm only using Excel Add Ins for extracting the data. I've yet to get the Access and perhaps the SQL accessibility to our database. Just started this position 2 weeks ago, and they're still "setting me up here..." Thanks again.

I don't think the names would be different but I am wondering if security is the issue. If Terri is new and they are still setting them up, then its possible.

Good thought Erik! I'll ask about that security/privileges setup. I know how uneasy one can be with a "newbie" like me, although I've been dealing with databases for years. Thanks for the input.
