    Hi
How do you handle browser incompatibility with Lawson over the internet?
We were thinking of giving users access from home especially for stuff like Open Enrollments and Pay Stubs.
Especially we get a lot of requests for Mac access.

We are looking at various solutions and have already implemented Citrix for a limited set of users who require home access.
However we would be interested in other solutions as well.

Does anyone know of other solutions and especially low cost alternatives

Some other alternatives we are researching are ISH, Windows Terminal Services, Remote Desktop and other tools.

    can anyone share their experience?

We have EMSS access opened up to employees at home, but tell them to use IE. This was a hot topic at the MRLUG meeting held in New Jersey this past Wednedsay. Accoring to some individuals who have looked at the internal code, Lawson has intentionally disabled browsers other than IE for some reason. We were told by Lawson at the MRLUG meeting that Firefox worked, however it does not in our environment (LSF 9.009/8.03 apps). Unless newer environment versions behave differently, your aternatives may be limited to customizing Lawson code to make it work with other browsers, purchasing the ISH tool or implementing a whole new layer that works with IE. None of these options are particularly attractive to us at the present time. Lawson really needs to step up to the plate on this one, it is ridiculous than IE (and Safari in very limited situations) are the only supported borwsers in this day and age. On a similar theme, Lawson announced at CUE (in Harry's presentation) that EMSS functionality was now an option for Smartphones. This too has proved to be incorrect, not only is it not presently available, we cannot even get a delivery date.

Newer versions of RSS/RQC and ESS/MSS can be accessed directly (i.e. don't login via Portal) using Firefox on the Mac--but not Safari.

Thanks for using the LawsonGuru.com forums!

Hey guys! I know that forum policies do not allow me to post details about our products here, but since you are asking for help, we at ITK Technologies (previous ISH) have developed products that allow you to access Lawson Portal using the four most popular web browsers (including mobile access) plus accessing Self Service products from outside your company's network in safe ways.
So, let me know if you are interested and we will be glad to provide you with more details.

At the Inforum in Denver we were told that Firefox would work for the Mac to access Portal. However what they didn't tell was that you can't log in through the regular login page and get the listing of bookmarks. You can save bookmarks to individual pages WITHIN the Portal but you can't just log in to the Portal and navigate around. For that you need a PC, and Internet Explorer.

Apparently the listing of bookmarks doesn't work with whatever is in the other browsers.

I don't know of any other site I visit that simply won't work without a particular browser - I'm not sure why Lawson doesn't fix this, It was possible to use Firefox prior to LSF9.
