CU161 - Interface Translation Rates
**Form purpose
Use Interface Translation Rates (CU161) to interface translation rate
information you are converting from a non-Lawson environment to the Lawson
Currency system for a currency table, company, or company group.
**Prerequisites
Before you interface translation rates, you must define all the currency
relationships for which you are interfacing data, using Currency Relationship
(CU02.1), and you must define all the translation codes you are interfacing,
using Translation Codes (CU05.2). In addition, if you are interfacing
translation rates for a currency table, you must define the currency table,
using Currency Table (CU00.1); if you are interfacing translation rates for a
company or company group, you must set up the company or companies, using
Company (GL10.1); and if you are interfacing translation rates for a budget,
you must define the budget, using Period Budget, Rate (FB20.1)
**Process at a glance
1. Convert your non-Lawson file to a comma-value-separated (CSV). The fields
in your CSV file must match the position, size and type of the fields in the
CUTRATEREL Lawson interface file.
2. Use a transfer utility program (such as the winptxfr or ftp command) to
transfer your non-Lawson file to your Lawson environment. You may need to
rename your PC file to match the naming conventions of your Lawson
environment. For example, to transfer file currency rate.csv in your PC Data
directory to your UNIX machine, use this command:
winptxfr -u cutran-rate c:\\Data\\Curr transl rate.csv
where cutran-rate is the name you give the file on your Lawson machine.
3. Import the file you just transferred into the Lawson Currency Translation
Rate Interface file (CUTRATEREL), by using an Import command, such as:
importdb productline CUTRATEREL curr-rate
where productline id the Lawson product line where you want to load the
file.
4. View and maintain the information in the CUTRATEREL file, using Maintain
Translation Rates (CU61.1) or Maintain Co Translation Rates (CU61.2), and
Period Rates (CU61.3).
5. (Optional) Run Translation Interface Listing (CU261) to list currency
records.
6. Run Interface Translation Rates (CU161) to load the currency translation
information into the Currency application.
7. Correct any records that did not interface using CU61.1, CU61.2, or
CU61.3, and run CU161 again. Repeat these steps until all records are
interfaced.
**Decision/impact
You can interface translation rates for a currency table, a company, or a
company group. You can also limit the records interfaced to a currency
relationship, a fiscal year, or a budget.
If you select Yes in the Replace Rate field, rates in the non-Lawson file will
replace rates that exist for matching fiscal years, periods, and translation
codes in the Lawson Currency data. If you select No, only currency rates for
new fiscal years, periods and translation codes will be added.
Run this report with the Update field set to N (Report Only) to see a report
of the changes generated by CU161 without actually changing the database.
Select the A (All) option to update the records only if all the records are
correct. Select the P (Partial) option to interface correct records and
generate a report of incorrect records that did not interface.
**More help
Once records are interfaced successfully using CU161, they are deleted from
the CUTRATEREL file and can no longer be viewed on CU61.1, CU61.2, or CU61.3.
They have become regular Currency records and you can view and maintain them
on Currency Table Translation Rates (CU20.1) or Company Translation Rates
(CU20.3).
