IC74.1 - Random Counts

Use this form to randomly enter item counts for a select ID. This form is
similar to IC72.1 (Counts by Page) except that this form lets you access item
records by page, line, or item number and lets you add new item records. This
form is useful if you want to add item record(s) missed by the selection
criteria defined for a select ID.

You must create a freeze file in IC170 (Freeze Selected Items) before you can
use this form. A freeze file is a snapshot of item records for a select ID
defined in IC70.1 (Select IDs). By default, select IDs require you to enter
actual item counts. However, a select ID can be set up not to require count
entries. In this case, freeze quantities display and can be changed if
variances exist. Regardless of whether or not count entries are required, you
must enter or verify them using the Add form action.

Item counts are updated to inventory when IC175 (Update Variances) is run in
update mode. Prior to update you can run IC175 in nonupdate mode to print the
Variance Report, then explain variances by reason code in any count entry form
(IC72, IC73, or IC74). After update you can only explain variances in IC76.1
(Variance Reasons). You can only use reason codes for reporting purposes. You
cannot use reason codes to override the normal general ledger offset account
set up for physical inventory in IC04.1 (General Ledger Category).

Note: Performing a physical inventory count using the Inventory Control
system involves several steps. Refer to the Inventory Control Procedures
Manual for more information.

Tip: Use the Sublot field to continue a serial or lot number longer than 10
characters.

Updated Files

    CKPOINT    - This file is used in the event of a program or system failure
                 to enable a batch update program to continue from where it left
                 off.


    ICFREEZE   - Primary file maintained by program.

    ICSELECT   - Used to update and maintain the number of entered and
                 unexplained lines.  As new lines are created, the last manual
                 line and number of pages are updated.

    GLCODES    - Used in a General Ledger common routine.

    ICBIN      - Used to validate the bin entered.

    ICCOMPANY  - Used to validate the existence of the company number.

    ICLOCATION - Used to validate the existence of the location.

    ITEMLOC    - Used to validate the existence of the item at the specific
                 location.


    ITEMMAST   - Used to display the item description and validate the stock
                 unit of measure.


    ITSERIAL   - Used to validate serial numbers.

    REASON     - Used to validate the existence of reason codes.

    SOHDETAIL  - Used to disallow the creation of a freeze record if
                 stock-on-hand already exists for a bin and lot/sublot.
