PA08.1 - Qualifications
Use PA08.1 (Qualifications) to define education, competencies, and
certifications required or desired for specific jobs and positions.
A job code or position code must be defined in the Personnel Administration
system before you can assign qualifications to it. Job codes are defined in
HR06.1 (Job Codes). Position Codes are defined in PA02.1 (Position Codes).
The system uses the external applicant's education, competencies, and
certifications (defined in PA34.1, PA35.1, and PA36.1) as criteria when
searching for external applicants qualified to be considered for the job or
position. For internal applicants, the system uses education, competencies,
and certifications as defined in PA20.1, PA21.1, and PA22.1.
Several searches are available once this information has been defined.
Use PA62.1 (Employee Qualification Search), PA63.1 (Applicant Qualification
Search), and PA64.1 (Employee Job Qualification) to identify employees and
applicants who are qualified for a job or position. Use PA64.2 (Employee
Position Qualification) and PA65.2 (Applicant Position Qualification) to
identify which positions an employee or applicant is qualified to perform.
Because you can perform searches by job or position, you only need to define
qualifications for a position if the position has more specific criteria than
its job code.
For an education function, you only need to specify the highest education
required. For example, if a job requires a masters degree, you do not need to
specify a qualified employee or applicant also needs a high school diploma and
a bachelors degree. Education levels are defined on the Education Code of
HR04.1 (HR Code Setup).
You can print this information as part of a job posting by running PA208 (Job
Description Listing).
For more information about identifying qualified applicants, see "Searching
for Qualified Applicants" in the Personnel Administration Procedures Manual.
