AC30.1 - Allocation
**Form Purpose
Use Allocation (AC30.1) to define an allocation with a single allocation
pool. Single-pool allocations can be used to distribute costs, revenues, hours
or units from a single pool to one or more activities. The allocation pool can
consist of balances in one or more activities, or balances in one or more
general ledger accounts. The pool can be allocated to activities using any of
the following drivers:
- Fixed percentage. As an example, you might allocate overhead costs to one
or more activities using a predetermined percentage.
- Fixed factor. As an example, you might allocate project management costs to
one or more activities based on square footage associated with each activity.
- Dynamic factor. As an example, you might allocate project management costs
to one or more activities based on the hours spent in the activity each month.

AC30.2 - Multiple Pool Allocation
**Form Purpose
Use Multiple Pool Allocation (AC30.2) to define an allocation using more than
one allocation pool. Multiple pool allocations can be used to distribute
costs, revenues, hours or units to activities. INstead of assigning one pool
to the entire allocation, you can identify a different pool for each activity
to which the allocation should be posted. The percentage allocated to each
activity is determined by a compute statement. A different compute statement
can be used for each activity to which the allocation is posted.
Examples of multiple pool allocations include:
- Allocating fringe benefit costs to activities based on the ratio of each
activity's labor costs to total labor costs for all activities in a project
- Allocating overhead costs to projects owned by a given department based on
the ratio of each activity's costs to total departmental costs

AC30.3 - List Allocation
**Form Purpose
Use List Allocation (AC30.3) to post an allocation to a list of activities.
List allocations require a single pool, which can consist of activity balances
or GL balances (amounts or units). The pool is allocated to activities that
are members of a list. The percentage allocated to the activities in the list
is determined by a compute statement. You can use automatic or manual lists in
a list allocation.
If the post-to activities change frequently and can be identified with an
automatic list, you can reduce the allocation maintenance since the list is
dynamically generated each time the allocation is processed.
**Processing Effect
List allocations have an activity posting option which determines how the
allocation is calculated.
- The pool option allows you to calculate and add amounts to activities in
the pool, such as adding a capital interest charge to activities in a
construction project. For the pool option, an activity pool is required. The
activity list assigned to the pool must be the same as the post-to activity
list.
- The consolidate options allows you to allocate pool balances to a large or
frequently changing set of activities, such as allocating project management
costs to a list of activities based on the ratio of each activity's hours to
total project hours.

AC30.4 - New Allocation
**Form Purpose
Use New Allocation (AC30.4) to define an allocation header. An allocation
header is required nd contains rules for how the allocation should be
processed.new allocation and defaults for it. You can override some of these
rules using the More button on each allocation line on AC30.1 or AC30.2.
