New Acquisition

We have recently acquired another hospital and are getting ready to bring their employees under our umbrella. For our current employees, we are using the Adjusted HireDate to determine Benefits Service and Hire Date for when we hire new employees.  We're not using Seniority and Anniversary dates for anything other than reflecting the Hire Date. building a unemployment multiple worksite report in MS Access

Hi I am new to using Lawson and have not been trained on the software. I am used to using Peoplesoft. I have access to the back tables to run queries in MS Access. Position Budget record adds

I would like to add new Position Budget records in PA70.1 for certain positions. These positions have an effective date such as 12/15/2008, 1/10/2009, 1/04/2009, .. i.e. effective dates not at the beginning of the month. When I try to add a position budget record for these positions, I get the return message, Position does not exist for entire time period. 9x upgrade

27 pay periods 2009 7.2 relaese

I have looked for a solution to this in the past with no success....   I am wondering if anyone has found a solution in LSF9. The Search box in portal defaults to 'Last Name'.   This is both case sensitive and requires a wild card.   I am trying to find what I need to change so that the 'Name' field will be the default search for all users. Anyone know what I need to change   Will this be easier to do on our test box of LSF9

Tax Exempt employee report

Our ER department wants a double check in place to make sure they code some of our Law Enforcement employees as being exempt for SS.  I've been exploring with Add-Ins to see if we can get a report that meets requirements using that tool.  It seems easy enough to grab the appropriate employees by Process Level and Department, and get the appropriate deduction codes.  However, I'm trying to use DEDUCTION.TAX EXEMPT.FLG to identify which (if any) employees were the Tax Exempt Code is blank (No).  ...

We have been looking at creating some total compensation reports, but were outraged at some of the costs that we've heard for 3rd parties to implement. That high cost is especially outrageous when you realize that you have to do all the work anyways of getting the data in the proper formats and choosing what data to use and how it will be displayed. PR260 and PR261

We had to replace about 5 checks written in 2006 but replaced in 2008.  The PR297 is correct for 2006 and 2006 but the PR261 and PR260 is not, it does not  match the PR297. PR260 includes the manual checks in the 2008 report with the original 2006 dates.  PR261 includes the manual replacemnt checks in the 2008 report with the 2008 dates. None of the checks appear in 2006. Consequently, PR261 does not match our PR297.  To my way of thinking since we use the check replacement screen the system...

Is Employee Group size the ONLY big company problem with Lawson HR Payroll?

401k plan with comp threshold for match

Lawson's CreateUsersXML for use in ESS set up

Printing 4-stack laser W2 forms on iseries ver 9

We upgraded this year to Lawson 9 on the i-series and we test printed W2 4-stack laser forms.  They no longer print correctly but they did in version 7.  Can anyone tell how to print correctly in 9  Do you have to use 3rd party software  Lawson's website gives that impression. Thanks!

Nested Employee Groups

After months of looking, for the life of me I cannot find documentation on how to nest employee groups, we are on 9.0 and going live in a few months.  Logged a ticket with support to get info but they just referred me to an article that told me what employee groups are.  In Lawson training the trainer told me that nesting doesn't work in 9.0.  Can anyone help  Thanks.

834 file for Health

I'm trying to build the HIPAA834 file for Health and it appears to be a situation.  I can create a sequetial file but must be able to remove the embedded spaces between the asterick (*).  ie I have a field that can be 1 to 10 positions, I need three position.  I can't leave the other seven blank I must remove and replace with an asterick and then the next field starts.  Another example is if the field is not populated then I must have two asterick to delimit the field. Ess/Mss Information Office or Portal

We are on enviro 8.0.3.7 and app version 8.1. we are implementing ess/mss and I'm confused about whether or not Information Office will be used or the Lawson Portal. I think that you have to deem to use one or the other and then do the appropriate set-up. Some of the documentation that I've read indicates that prior to 8.1 information office was used, but 8.1 uses the portal. Any info on this is appreciated.

Moving Benefit Money

Yikes - a Year End Question Already!

Does anyone process W2s for Puerto Rico employees The year end guides aren't specific enough, because every time I try to test I can get only one W2 (and we have about 50 employees).  If you do process these, do you have any step by step instructions you'd be willing to share  We've given up in past years and filed directly on the Puerto Rico web site, but it's a manual process and extremely tedious with multiple opportunities for errors.  Thanks in advance Stephanie
