We have added new locations to our Lawson system as additional Process Levels under our single company 1000 in product line PROD and this has worked fine.  But now we are now being asked to take on a new hospital, but this one will be different.  They need to be completely autonomous from our existing locations and will have their own HR and payroll processing center, leave plans, benefit plans, bank, etc.  It doesn't seem like adding them as a process level under our existing company 1000 will work for this.  What is the best practice for something like this?  Is it a second company 2000, or should it even be a second product line PROD2?  What are the pros and cons to each choice?  Thanks for any advice from someone who has been in this situation.

We had a similar situation and chose to create a seperate company. Because it is in the same product line, the data is in the same tables as the other company. It works well for us. The only thing you will need to look out for are the tables that are not distinct by company like certification codes, training courses, education degrees, user fields etc. That has not been an issue for us and I am the only one across the system who can add the codes.

        Thanks for your reply.
Does your second company have their own HR and Payroll processing staff and run their system totally autonomously from your first company? Did you have any issues with the Portal configuration and Employee and Manager Self-Service needing to be different for the two groups? How do you handle ProcessFlow Administration - the PF Administrator from each group would both be looking at the common PF work unit logs, etc.? Any issues with Job and Report security, which is also "above" both Product Line and Company?

They have their own HR processing staff. PR is processed from a central location.

We did not have portal config issues. The other company is currently not using EMSS. Our current company who uses EMSS does have a few different process levels in our primary company and some of the EMSS documentation is different for them. We do not use PF with the newest company, yet. We have not had any issues with job and report security.
