I am trying to delete a 2012 benefit from the BN32.1 screen.  However, I am getting the following error message - "Cannot delete; payments exist".  I cannot find this actual error message on mylawson, so thought I would try here.

The employee is actually in a term status and his 2011 benefits ended on 9/30/11.  Unfortunately we rolled benefits prior to his term being entered.  So he has a deduction code set up on the PR14 for 1/1/12 through 12/31/12 as well.  But it wont let me delete that either because YTD amounts exist.  When I drill around on the deduction code, it does not show any deductions taken for 2012 yet.  And it shouldn't.

so any thoughts on why I cannot delete this plan???

The most common cause was a stray time record. It was almost always a time record that had been inadvertently created from PR80 (there is/was a series of steps that will leave an orphaned time record in the file) . Try running a query against the time record file for the employee.

You should be able to drill on the employee and see open time records. If they are associated with the pr80, you can enter company, employee number and then inquire. The orphaned time records associated with a PR80 will display and then you can delete them from the PR80.

We have run a number of reports to try to find a stray time record or one time deduction. And there is nothing! Any other ideas???

Kelly - occasionally, we discover "orphan" time records on the TIMERECORD table (they cause issues with a custom report that we have to send out every month). We have no idea how they get there - but if you query that particular table for the employee number, it will display. When we find one, we have to have our system admin delete the record from the table, because it doesn't display anywhere else - good luck

Stephanie - there is nothing on the TIMERECORD table.

Sorry, Kelly - I'm pretty much out of ideas if you've tried all the suggestions. ANY possibility someone mistyped a time rec for this person and put in a 2012 date?

We figured it out. One of our data entry folks entered an arrears amount and posted it to the 2012 deduction. YUCK!! So now we are trying to back that out and having issues with doing that because he is no longer being paid.
