    I work at a school where Macs and PC's are networked through a windows server.

    I want to check out a new feature that the district has made available called Employee Self Service (ESS). Apparently we have to log onto Lawson Web first.

    However, when I try it get this message:

    Error calling /lawson/portal/portalconfig.xml

    Details:
    ERROR:
    Cannot convert 'a' to object

    SSORequest() - sso.js

    The Portal cannot load because it was unable to load the global configuration file.
    System Administrator: please verify that file 'portalconfig.xml' exists.

    ALSO:

    We are now using Juniper and someone said that Employees who currently access XISD enterprise applications from home using VPN (Juniper) such as Chancery and Lawson may also use ESS from home, but only if you have Explorer.

    Does that sound right?

    Any help? Am I in the right forum?

    Thanks,

    Teacher

      The last I saw, Lawson still does not support their Portal (Web) on browsers other than Internet Explorer. I know that at least one of their partner companies had some sort of tool that allowed Portal to run on other browsers, but I can't remember which one.

      The error you received sounds more like a general system issue than a browser issue to me. The portalconfig.xml file is a general document that controls some settings for the Lawson Portal and doesn't reference anything that is browser specific to my knowledge.

          Try installing the latest version of Safari (5?) and see if that would help with the xml parser issue. Lawson does not support non-IE browser as it stands.

              The more recent versions of 10.0.x have started supporting Mac (using Chrome, Firefox or Safari). You'll want to check the compatibility matrix for the version you're on.
