We are on Windows Platform, Environment 9.0.0.4 and Applications 9.0/MSP2.

We are launching ESS and have about 3000 employees. Of those 3000, about 500 are already Lawson Portal users and therefore already have Security Profiles. For those users, we'd like to be able to simply add the ESS Role to their security profiles without affecting their present security.

Has anyone been able to find a tool like the 'CreateUsersXML.vbs' script Lawson provides for adding new users, that can instead be used to simply update existing users? We have used the script to create new accounts for the 2500 users. However, we tried to modify the script so that we can add the ESS role to existing users, but it overwrites all of their existing roles and leaves only the ESS role.

We have tried to work with Lawson, but they say this would be an enhancement request because nothing like this already exists. However, I find it difficult to believe that everyone who installs ESS/MSS does it out of the gate, with no pre-existing security profiles already in place.

    Please advise. Thank you.

If you have ProcessFlow Integrator (yes, I know I sound like a broken record), you can use the ResourceUpdate node to append/add the role to the user's existing roles.

If you don't have ProcessFlow Integrator, you should be able to use regular ProcessFlow and the ResourceQuery node to read each user's roles, but you'd need PFI to generate the .xml file for LoadUsers.
Thanks for using the LawsonGuru.com forums!
