We run a bi-weekly payroll, and this year for us the last period end date of the year falls on Jan 1, 2010.  We would like to pay everyone on Dec 31, 2009.  We  have several benefits that are set up in the BN module for 26 pay periods.

Does anyone know whether in this case Lawson would consider this the 27th pay of 2009, and not take the BN deductions (looking at PR140 date).  Or will it look at the period end date, and consider it the first deduction of 2010?

We would like everything to go to 2009.  Should we make sure we don't roll over the year before running this payroll (PR999)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Lawson will do what you tell it to do based on your processing. If you want the deduction to come out, use a deduction cycle that will take it out, if you don't want it to come out of that pay check, use a cycle that doesn't include the deduction. The option for 53 or 27 pay periods on the pay plan only relates to taxes spread out over the year, not voluntary deductions.

Thanks, Stephanie.  Actually, we were more concerned with out BN32 deductions set up for 26 pay periods.  Is that only for calculating the amount, or will it stop us at 26 pay periods.

        Thanks for the help.

It's only for calculations - if, on your last pay period you use a deduction cycle on PR140 that includes the benefit, it will come out of the employee's checks.
