Position Budget record adds

    I would like to add new Position Budget records in PA70.1 for certain positions. These positions have an effective date such as 12/15/2008, 1/10/2009, 1/04/2009, .. i.e. effective dates not at the beginning of the month.

    When I try to add a position budget record for these positions, I get the return message, Position does not exist for entire time period.

    When the position has an effective date at the beginning of the month, I am able to successfully add a Position Budget record.

    Can anyone tell me where there is a rule or configuration within PA to be able to add a Budget record for any position with any effective date including dates other than the first of the month?

    This is 8.0.3 applications.

      You have to enter an new effective date on PA06 and a budget through date on the counts tab and then run Pa111

        On the test environment the positoin rules are exactly the same as the rules in production; in test, we CAN successfully add Position Budget records; on production we get that same error. Same position rules. Is the PA111 required to update all positions though?

          Roger I would verify the Budget through date PA06. and make sure you are using the same form in test vs productuion and not PA72 vs PA70 ( apples to apples)...Use PA72.1 (Preliminary Position Budget) to create a budget by position during the budget planning period. PA72.1 displays only preliminary budget records, which are records with an effective date later than the budget approved through date defined in PA06.1 (Position Rules).

            PA111 should only need to be run if the flag on your position rule is "N" for automatic counting. 

            We update budgets on PA70 all the time without your error.  It sounds like you may have an issue with your budget date being before your position effective date?
