The rate used to calculate liability in LP198 is incorrect for salaried multiple position employees.  LP198 is using the fte from position level 1 rather than total fte to arrive at the rate.  Lawson's response is LP198 is working as designed.

Does anyone have any experience with Custom Calculations in LP?  We would appreciate any information regarding this.

Rather than spend time wrestling with Lawson code, I would create an extract of multiple position data, calculate the liability and uploaded it to GL. I would also submit an enhancement request to have LP198 prompt the user to select which FTE value is to be used. I'm sure a bunch of clients, hospitals and education, would be happy to Me Too your enhancement.

Out of curiosity, if an employee has multiple positions, I assume they are expensed to different GL accounts and may even have different pay rates. Do you post your liabilities to the level 1 account at the level 1 rate, or do you post more detail?

I customized LP198 for a client who wanted a different rate (based on user fields) used for the liability calculation.

You will need some 4GL development expertise. LP198 will need to be cloned and changes made to the PD file.

We do expense the liability to the level 1 position.  We do not have different rates of pay based on position levels.  We assign rate of pay on only the level 1 position.

Since everything's on the level 1 position, a simple query would get you the info you need for liability calculations. Once calculated, you can easily upload it if you have add-ins, or create the interface file to import it to GL.

And I would still enter an enhancement request to provide the option to use Total FTE and ask people on this forum to Me Too it.

We have discussed loading the liability using Addins however we would lose the drill ability that finance is looking for.
