Lawson recently announced that the Time Accrual module will not be supported in release 9.01 of HR and that the Absence Management module is the migration path. This is an "add on" module that carries a steep initial purchase price and additional annual maintenance. It also opens up the customer to Lawson's new (aka more costly)  licensing and maintenance terms. While the replacement may offer increased functionality we feel this is unaceptable for customers who do not need it and are happy with TA. We feel that as a matter of good faith Lawson should either support TA moving ahead or reduce the cost of 9.01 and or Absence Management to soften the cost blow of the forced upgrade. What's next - spinning out the PR module to a seperate product? I look forward to everyones perspective on this!

      I hear you Joe!

The bundling and breaking out modules, is not customer friendly and certainly anti-MTFF.

The complexity of installing new SW, keeping it up to date, seems to be of no concern to Lawson.

why should the customers be forced to upgrade? Oh, so the SW vendors can make more money. Its all Microsoft's fault, they started it all....

There was similar outcry when LSF9 came out and Lawson forced everyone to pay the upgrade fee. I'm not sure if clients really feel that it's worth it, or it's just cheaper than switching to another vendor.
