We ran a pr299 for Georgia and I was running some queries to doublecheck the #'s. My research shows that 'work' state is stored with PRTIME and Quartwage, but resident state or 'tax state' is only stored in Employee table (which is overwritten when changed), timerecord (which is wiped out when payroll is processed) and hrhistory field 81(which is up to us whether to have logged to history or not).
This can't be true, but I've looked and looked and cannot find any other place that the pr299 would use to know who is Georgia taxable. (which is based on either work state or resident state).
The quartwage form states:
"One of the primary functions of this file is to produce w2 information. Therefore, pay history for an employee is stored by work state, process level and department." It does not refer to resident or tax state, though if someone lives in Georgia and works in Florida, they are still require to pay the taxes.
In a nutshell, I suppose I'm asking where the 'tax state' field from timerecord gets stored after the timerecord table is wiped out by the payroll process and if that field is then used by pr299 to know which employees should get GA W-2's and/or be charged GA taxes. Surely I'm missing something here..
Any assistance is appreciated!
