Hello! My desire is to temporarily stop a garnishment for the summer. Can i just enter a Stop Date, and then remove it when i want it to resume, or do i need to enter a new Effective Date also?

    thanks,
    Chris

Assuming this isn't a court ordered garnishment which then makes you as the employer liable for the amount that should be withheld if you willing stop it without a release, you can enter a stop date and then remove it when you want to continue withholding the amount (you'll also want to check to see if you have a descending balance set up). You don't need to enter a new effective date.

good advice Stephanie, thank you. Stopping a garnishment should be controlled via court order only, i'll pass this to my payroll dept.
