    Hi,

We are on 8.0.3 env and 8.1 apps.  Does anyone know if Lawson extended the time to upgrade to LSF9 env?  I heard we can run 2010 payroll but may have issues with the W2, can anyone confirm?

    Also, BSI should be oK.

I'd like to know what other companeis are doing who don't plan to be on LSF9 env and apps by 1/1/2010.

    Thanks for your help.

I thought they already stopped supporting 8.0.3 environment.

Sounds like you're really asking about the 8.1 applications. The 8.1 application rollsl into Legacy (I think that's the correct phrase) support after May, 2010. Legacy, as I understand it means no new enhancements and no new fixes. So you'd be able to download existing CTPs but no new ones will be created.

The year-end 2010 processing would appear to be the biggest potential issue and I really have no idea how Lawson will deal with that given the difficulty many customers are having getting their upgrade projects funded and completed.

I can never keep straight exactly when the 8.0.3 environment drops off, there are so many extensions and special deals, there's not one specific date. It's definitely looming though. Also, the upgrade from environment 8.0.3 to System Foundation 9.0.x is not easy.

Would you risk your financial system on it? One scenario I can immediately think of.

          For example:
BSI posted an update that required lawson to post a patch to work with after May 2010.
Since Lawson no longer support 8.1 app after May, 2010, thus, they would not need to spend time on writing a patch to work with BSI.
You will not be able to run payroll without the update since the tax deduction will not be accurate.
And you can forget about W2 if there's any tax changes. Lawson will not post any patches to update the W2 1099 etc. after May 2010.

          It's that simple.

Bottomline: start to plan your upgrade or move to another financial system.

Per Lawson's Decommission Notice dated March 26, 2009.

For customers who (i) are running 8.0.3 / 8.1 Applications on 8.0.3 technology / environment, and (ii) purchase Extended Applications Maintenance prior to May 31, 2009, Lawson will offer the following support assistance:

A customer will be able to receive limited application support1 until May 31, 2010 if they are still running on an 8.0.3. technology environment. After May 31, 2010, Lawson Global Support will not provide application support to any customer who is running on an 8.0.3 technology environment.

            IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Lawson will not certify regulatory and year-end program changes with the 8.0.3 technology environment after May 31, 2009. All Lawson regulatory and year-end programs will be certified for the 9.x technology environment. Customers who are running the Lawson financial and human resources applications are strongly urged to migrate their system to the 9.x technology environment as soon as possible to address this situation.
