I have editted the essmsgs.xml file at %WEBDIR%\lawson\xhrnet\xml\lang\enus\
I wanted to add two new phrases and change 1

I saved the file.  No chnages

    I cleared IOS. No Changes.

I cleared the IE files...went to a different workstation...rebooted the server....Still no changes...

Am I editting the correct file?  (I have validated in the pajobreq.htm that it is taking my edits there and applying them to the ESS page and that the phrases used there do come from essmsgs.xml) and the only other essmsgs.xml on the server are the non-US English ones (Spain, Mexico, France, etc)

We are in ver 9.17. IE refresh should just do the trick, no need to reboot. I have not experienced this before. Not sure if a syntax error would cause this. You may need to restore the original/backup copy. Then do a simple change to example in phrase id=ENTER_INFO_BELOW.

Add  your name to the phrase example: "Please BRIAN enter the information below."

      Save. Refresh (another is CTRL-F5).

See if the above change is showing. You may need to paste here the changes you made.

There are several message files, so you may or may not be editing the correct file.
Be sure that the message you want to change is in the essmsgs.xml file and not the benmsgs.xml file or one of the others.
Then be sure that the message you want to change is using the message tag that you are editing (by looking in the Javascript that is invoking the message).
If those all look good, then check to be sure your edit did not change the file permissions.

You are doing /servlet/IOSCacheRefresh - correct?

Also, on vertically-scaled clusters (more than one app server per WAS environment) you either have to configure your IOSCacheRefresh to be clustered or you have to do the IOSCacheRefresh on all app servers.

Not sure if this applies or not in your case.

I'm sure you've already ensured the changes were made on your server, and not locally on your machine.
We've never had this issue, however we didn't modify the Lawson delivered message xml's. We've built our own custom msgs.xml and modifed the ESS/MSS code to call our message file.

I figured I would try Fiddler to see f I could figure out what was wrong and as soon as I initiated the page everythign was updated. I am assuming the the "Clear WinINET Cache" was the solution. Thanks to all who responded.
