Hello, I'm creating a new service for a PA52 action. I have the service name defined properly and the work unit is created. I decided I need an extra variable not provided by default. I created the variable in the service definition in the IPA rich client. However when the work unit is created the variable is not on the work unit data. I am not setting any value to it at the time the work unit is created, I planned to set the value in the flow, using the Landmark transaction node. Am I missing a step? This is the first time I have tried creating a variable in IPA for a PA service.

Variables on a Service are generally meaningless. Their primary function is to show up within the flow Designer for easy reference. You're best bet is to add a new variable on the Start node and then do a lookup to assign the value you want to it.

The reason I added it was to use within design studio.

I had a client add variables to the Workunit at the start of the flow and then update them from the Inbasket. The problem is that updating the Workunit variables doesn't reload them into the flow - you have to query them after every possible update.

You can add your variable to the Workunit at the start of the flow and assign it a value. It would then be available to your Inbasket.

I'll try that. I have never passed data to a portal page that wasnt on the workunit/service variable. Thanks.
