I am new to Lawson software and know very little about how to maneuver within the product.  I need instructions on how to access the command line within Lawson LID. We are on version 9.0.1.4.  Thank you.

you need to install LIDE or telnet/ssh session such putty. Infor|Lawson technical foundation is best course for new comers.

You would log in to LID.
type . cv environment # that's dot space cv space environment
then you should have the access you'd need
rndgbdump -ct prodline employee | lashow
lapm prodline token # lapm test hr11
        etc

When I log into LID I am presented with the Security Menu. I do not have a place to type anything in...

ask your system admin to let you access to command to do laua, lashow, jobdump, lawsec and so on.

I believe you are running the wrong Lawson application.  You may be running Desktop Client Logon instead of Lawson Interface Desktop.

You were correct!  I have now opened up the correct application (Terminal) but am still unable to type anything in. I have gone through the "connection" setup but that just brings up the same security menu.  When I am at the terminal page there is a blinking cursor but it does not allow any input.  Am I perhaps missing some security settings?

Then, I believe what you are encountering is perhaps a restricted shell on the OS. Have someone adjust your OS login shell. If you are on Unix, have your admin do a usermod on you and change your login shell to ksh or bash.

after you install latest LIDE, click on your startup menu, select Infor Lawson Interface Desktop, and click on the green receiver, and choose your connection. hostname is hostname of your application server.

Click on the Green phone, choose Network, enter the name of your server

At the top select Setup, then Options.  On the Communications Settings if you have the  Use Default setting checked, it is probably going to your production instance.  Uncheck that and then you will be able to type in the correct server/application.

Are you on a windows platform, AIX or Unix?

Also, if you are hosted via Infor or a vendor, it is unlikely you will be granted access to the command shell.
Other than that, your profile mostly has commands in it that launch the security menu, and trap any attempt to break out, and exits when you close the security menu.

Well you should be running qsh. One thing that has me thrown off also, is the security menu from the iseries or a Lawson menu?

                                It is a Lawson menu...

                                 - Lawson User Security

                                 - Delete Users

                                 - Job Queue Definitions

                                 - Job Queue Defaults...etc.

Curious - after you open LID - use the Help, About ... to see what you are running. For example, we are Infor Lawson Interactive Desktop Edition 10.0.5.0 (and using it with both LSF 9.0.1.10 and LSF 9.0.1.13).

That's a very old version. You should upgrade

How do I get to LID to begin with?

Lid is a client application that you would install on your PC. If your organization does not have it then you would have to download it from the Infor Support site. You would go to the Downloads Products/Technology/Lawson System Foundation.

Yes. You need it to perform patches and other admin tasks.
