We are on AIX 6.1, LSF901ESP8, apps 901MSP6, Oracle.  We have a non-production LPAR that is extremely slow.  We are going to replace that LPAR with a new one, and will be reinstalling Lawson env, apps, etc.  I want to use the same database instance (already populated) and LDAP instance (ADAM) that the old environment used.  I am thinking that on a new install, it's going to clobber what is already in that database instance and LDAP instance.  First, is that correct?  Second, if that is true, then I should be able to just take backups before starting and then restore after the install is complete?

If you're going to do a fresh install of LSF you should always empty the GEN, LOGAN and ProductLine Database schemas, additionally you should drop and recreate a FRESH TDS instance, to save you a myriad of trouble.

faster to do from scratch. if you are going to use existing LDAP data. my best advise to you, backup your old LDAp instance and run ssoconfig -c to save data into xml format so you can reload into new server. start from scratch. after passing your technical smoketest, save this new LDAP instance, and ssoconfig to reload xml file that you save. if servername or any others are diff. from old LDAP instance, you need to vi and replace it/them before reloading. restore from backup of existing old LDAP instance did not work for me due to configuration changes and bouncy castle. good luck.
