We're using "laprint" on our Windows Server to print Lawson reports.

When we do "laprint -z7" the font size is very small and hard to read.

When we do "laprint -z8" the font size is readable, but then the reports are truncated along the right-hand side of the page.

I tried "laprint -z7.5" but the "-Z" option doesn't allow decimal values.

Does anyone have suggestions (besides printing landscape)?

    Gracias.

    -Michael

I normally use laprint -o landscape -z 7 or -z 8 and at 7 the report is not truncated.
You might want to try to adjust the pitch or font size on the printer itself. We typically print to multifunction copy machines that have quite a bit of adjustability. Good luck.

Thank you for your reply Joe.

We do print landscape for some of our Lawson reports, but our users want to print in portrait mode for certain reports.
The "-Z 7" size is very small and hard to read.

We don't want to adjust the printer settings because the printer is used for other functions besides Lawson, and so we don't want to impact those other functions.

One option, if you *really* want to dive into this, is to use a batch file in conjunction with laprint. I remember seeing an example one time where you could send escape sequences to the printer before the print job, and that could be used to control the font size and many other characteristics, assuming this is a printer that supports escape sequences, like any HP Laserjet-compatible. That would obviously be a lot of work (it's been years since I've had to dig out PCL escape sequences!) Just teach your users how to use Portal and PDFs

Thanks for your reply John - I just might do this.
We're not planning on rolling out Portal until Q4.

I have a printer here that every time I use the -o landscape I get the error auto print failed. Anyone have any ideas?

Maybe I should elaborate, we are using the printer through a batch as stated above and if the -o landscape is added we get this error. However if I go into the user's print mgr I can manually push the print through lid without any issues.
