LSF901 (<9019) Product Line Copy to different machine

We've been fighting this for a few days.  We can rebuild from backup to get TEST going again, but what we REALLY want is to periodically reconstruct TEST from PRODUCTION.  

So far we've have limited success.  The PL copies, but tools such as verifyora11 still see conflicts caused by patches applied to the old TEST (not on PRODUCTION).

We have some documentation we followed, some other documentation we also tried to match up with, and a shell script from a consultant that was helpful, but was mainly geared towards a PROD901 to PRODUCTION copy on the same machine.  And (by the consultant's own warnings,) was incomplete.  

Does anyone have a more or less complete script or checklist for doing this?

This is LSF9017 on AIX/Oracle.

I'll be glad to post my script back if I ever get it working.
