We're starting the process of upgrading the applications from 9.0.0.4 to 9.0.1.5.  One thing that I'm trying to figure out, is how I'm going to handle all of the users job paramaters that were created under the 9.0.0 applications and convert them to 9.0.1.

    1) Use jobdump to dump all of the jobs, find and replace old productline with new productline, delete all jobs under the old productline, then use jobload to load all of the jobs under the new productline.

I guess what I'm trying to find out, is it easier to try the above option, and then have the users adjust the parameters as they come across the forms that changed?  Or do they just create new reports as they run them?

What have others done that have experienced this situation?

From my experience, not all of the job parameters come over correctly in the conversion using jobdump/load. I have done what you are saying you are doing.

I think it's just overall easier for everything if the users adjust the parameters as they come across the forms that changed, and they can also just create new reports as they run them. It also depends on how many jobs in question. Also look at recurring jobs.

I agree with Roger. Have users re-create the jobs. It is painful, but if a job's parameters change it can be even worse. After having me copy jobs for them a couple of times, my user's told me not to copy them anymore. It just caused more headache that it was worth.

i would not trust ujobdump and ujobload. I have run into problems with it too many times to count. The worst type of fail ujobdump/ujobload i can think of is:

Most of the paramters came over fine EXCEPT one paramter in one of the tab that users will never check. <--- have users recreate the job, save yourself the headache.

We have a ton of jobs out there, not to mention all of the payroll job streams (jobdef). And we also have a few jobs that require it to be a certain jobname. I'll probably end up doing both....Some users create new, and some users (power users) I will copy them over and just let them make the changes. Thanks for the input.
