We are running in windows and using ADAM as our ldap and I need to copy all the users from my existing production environment of 9.0.0.8 to our new 9.0.1.7 environment. Does anyone know how this can be accomplished? The new 9.0.1 environment is on 2008 server with ADLDS and the old 9.0.0.8 environment is on 2003 server with MSADAM. I have over 1100 users and we can not just recreate all of them in the new environment. Any help you can provide would be great.

This is a tough one, but unfortunately it will be a reality for anyone moving the 9.0.0 on x86 to 9.0.1 on x64 machines. The "Lawson approved" way to accomplish this is to duplicate the existing 900 LSF9 environment on the new machine, and then upgrade it to 901. I personally have taken a different approach and been successful using a fresh 901 install, and migrating over the GEN, LDAP, and LOGAN data via ssoconfig, lsdump/lsload, loadusers, SQL against the GEN database for the USER/USERINFO tables, etc. In the end it accomplishes the same thing, but is much faster.

There is actually an even faster way than that. There is a secret internal Lawson command to copy the LDAP so you don't have to move anything.

I used it for all my upgrades. You have to be going from 9.0.0.5+ for the command to be present.

I don't want to post onlist since I'm not sure if Lawson intended the command to be available, but I will let people know in a PM.

John, I called your phone, so give me a ring back...

That would be, to say the least, very interesting to know.

As far as copying the LDAP over did you just create an instance in AD LDS with the same name as your original environment and then do a backup and restore to the new 9.0.1 enviropnment? Do you perhaps have some notes your could share on these steps?

I will give you a call today Kwane. I would be very interested in knowing what you have found. I am going from 9.0.0.8 to 9.0.1.7 and this could be very useful.
