When refresh data on the report for the first time, LBI will prompt the screen to ask user to enter ID and password to connect database. How to make it without asking user ID and password to connect to database? I have enter the ID and password under the data settings screen in the report administration and also tried to create a datasource but nothing work? I used SQL OLEDB connection. Any idea? Thanks

The stupid question that I know you've probably looked at but when you entered your user ID and password, did you select use the ID and password entered above?

Next what happens when youyou click view with data refresh, does it prompt you for a password?

Otherwise, I would start looking at the data connection to see if something is wrong there.

Just the first few places I would look

Any relevant errors in the WebSphere or RAS logs?

In your override datasource have you tried the option "Use report data source"

and in when viewing report option use " Use the user-id and pASSWORD ENTERED ABOVE". Enter the user-id and password twice and save.

Also check to see whether the oledb connection on your datasource is successful or not.

Yes. I used both options, either Use Report Data Source or the datasource I created in the server administration. I only checked systemout and systemerr logs but they are fine. What else I need to check the logs? OLE DB connection should work because when I entered the ID and password on the prompt screen, it went though.

Are you certain the report you published didnt have "Save Data with Report" checked? Also, are you using windows authentication or SQL Server authentication?

Depending on what version of the Crystal RAS engine you have installed the RAS log files should be somewhere under the Business Objects folder under Program Files. Most likely in a folder called Enterprise or Crystal Report Server.

Where is the save data with report? I am using SQL authentication to connect the database.
Whenever the first time I refrest data from the report, it will prompt the screen - database Logon , Data Type - OLD DB(ADO), use ID , password. Once I enter the ID and password(the same one as I entered in the data source), it went through and won't ask me again for refreshing data but if I exit the report and re-open it and refresh it, it will pop up the database logon screen.

                    > Open the Crystal Report in Crystal Report Designer
                    > Click File
                    >About 5 items down will be a menu item that says "Save Data with Report"

if there is a Check Box next to this option you will see the type of duplicate login prompt that you are receiving. Just make sure to uncheck it, save the report and republish to LBI.

As in a back office report? There are about 2 dozen different places LBO Reports can fail but Id start with permissions off the FTP users. Also check the IA150.log file.
