We're currently using LBI for Lawson report distribution only (e-broadcasting replacement).  We did not buy enterprise reporting or any Crystal from Lawson.

I have non-Lawson needs for Crystal server.  I'd like to install it in a way that LBI still knows it's there and can publish an rpt.  This is an effort to provide one reporting portal (use LBI) for Lawson and non-Lawson reports.

Has anyone done this?  Lawson is very "stand-offish" unless we buy the whole reporting suite.  It doesn't seem that hard but I don't want to re-invent the wheel if I don't have to.

If you bought LBI, then you inherently bought Crystal, as it is part of LBI reporting services, and can be used for non-Lawson reports. =

My apologies for not telling the whole story.  We were granted only the reporting piece, just enough to replace e-broadcasting.  We don't have Crystal server installed.

Well, in that case you probably have a special license from Lawson and should be talking directly to your sales rep.=

              Mike:
I'm very curious to know if/how you resolved this? Since LBI only has the RAS server as a part of its implementation, I have found some limitations. One recently was that PSA had different schema names for PROD and DEV unlike the LAWSON schema and this caused me to have a great need for a repository in order to re-point the data connection on command reports so I recommended that the client purchase CR Server to supplement LBI since that is cheaper than re-writing reports.

I have not resolved this. I'm in design/concept phase.

If you reccomend the purchase of CR server, how is it installed? I'm hoping that if I install it on the LBI server the LBI instance will know it's there and allow me to publish rpts. Also, the CR server will contain it's own "portal" (I assume) and I can deliver that way as well.

I'll be experimenting soon on a test system. I have a call set up with resellers to discuss CR Server and how it may solve my needs.

I found the embedded version of crystal with LBI much better than installing the full suite of crystal enterprise. With LBI dashboard, you can consolidate all the reports in one location for you lawson users, that includes txt, csv, excel files and non-lawson crystal reports also. Users will only log into lawson portal, avoiding an extra login to access all their reports. You also have less services to monitors on server-end.

Enabling CRAS on LBI should be fairly easy, just redeploy reporting services, read the install guide.

In my situation, I wouldn't install on the LBI server - in fact, a laptop installation would meet the need.
