Is it possible to have report parameters that are selected by the report user to limit the output for the dispplayed report from a historical instance.

For instance, if we have a termination report for the entire company that is scheduled to run every Monday, is possible to add a parameter (e.g department) that the user would be prompted for the further filter/select data from the historical instance?

If so, how would this be accomplished?

Are you using LBI or Enterprise and do the same people always need to see the same departments? Rather than asking them, could you instead show them what they should see?

If you are using Enterprise, CR2008 published in BOE 3.x has the ability to allow a user to adjust the parameters of a saved instance. You have to design the report so that this feature can be used. And you have to use the BOE Viewer that allows this feature to work.

If you are using Enterprise and have a version less than CR2008 or have not designed the report to use this feature, then the user would have to be able to export the historical instance to Crystal Reports (with the saved data) and reduce the content of the report instance's saved data in record selection. You would not have to give the user access to the database since they are using the saved data with that instance.
