Has anyone out there ever migrated from one LBI system to another and included a physical relocation of report files? My obvious first concern is CLOBs and GLOBs. :-( Any experience with this is greatly appreciated.

Infor has recommended a HW upgrade which would take us to 64-bit. Additionally, they have suggested that we consolidate from 2 production LBI instances to a single LBI instance, and from 5 RAS instances to just 3 on beefier hardware.

A previous Infor consultant performed the upgrade for our UAT system and lost all our historical publications. He then began the production installation but ran into unknown issues. Our production system has two years of history and we need to maintain those historical instances.

Lastly, our infrastructure group is pushing to establish a separate file server for housing all report files. I'm guessing we would have to map a drive to that server in order to make that work. I'm not sure why we can't just mount a partition on the SAN, but I have not yet had the chance to discuss the matter with Infrastructure. Any thoughts...??

Although we haven't done everything that you've indicated, we have moved servers.. back in the 9.0.x days (I think).
We haven't changed the history location, but I believe (and don't quote me on this) that the location is determined by what you enter in on the RS install validator under the 'Archive Location' box on Step 2: Global System Settings.
You can find this in the ERS_SERVERATTRIBUTES table where ATTIBUTENAME = 'ERS Archive Path' ... but I would just change it with the InstallValidator and not update the DB directly. (Move the folders from whatever you currently have configured there, to where ever you want them, and make sure that you enter that value in when you install the new RS)

I think we actually did relocate the main report files when we did this upgrade from D:\LawsonDocuments to
D:\Repository\LawsonDocuments without seeing any adverse effects... but it was a long time ago, and my memory isn't what it used to be.

I have had experience in the past that is very difficult to change the blob fields. If you change the settings in the BLOB fields it may adversely affect the present environment but this was migrating on the 9 version.

If you are on Version 10 of LBI the results may be different.
