PR298 - W-2 Magnetic Media Run PR298 (W-2 Tape Creation) to create a tape file of W-2 information for government reporting on magnetic tape. For magnetic tape specifications, refer to your Social Security Administration Publication for the appropriate year. Consult your data processing department before running this program to insure the appropriate parameters are entered. You can create a file with only federal reportable information, or you can select a state tax authority to create a file containing Code S records in addition to the federal reportable information for the state selected. If a state tax authority is entered, only W-2 reportable information associated with the state specified is transferred to the tape. If you leave the State Tax Authority field blank, the tape includes only federal reportable information. Updated Files CKPOINT - Referenced Files DCCLASS - Used to validate the deduction class.
